Before: $1,850 billed through insurance A member needed a saline flush and contact removal at urgent care, resulting in 15 minutes of care. Paid in cash, it should have been $175. Because insurance was in the mix, the provider billed the insurance company $1,850 for the same visit. The insurer paid part of it and pushed the rest of the balance back to the member.
